Ok this is driving me crazy, all I want to do is have the account running in both Adwords and Adcenter. I have spoke to Will at distilled.co.uk about his adwords to adcenter converter which is pretty damn close to what I want.. but here is my top 3 problems and I guess so many people have the same issue ..#

seriously, I have just taken over an account that’s spending 360,000usd on PPC, I added the account to myclient center but when i asked for the adcenter login details the client said they didn’t have any budget for adcenter because adwords used it all ..

So I asked what was the conversion like between Google and Adcenter.. the client just didn’t know, they had never tested it because google could supply them with all the traffic their budget could buy, the agency was happy to setup one account and that was it, in fairness the agency setup a monster account 5 Campaigns with 90 active adgroups with 30-40 keyword sets all using {keyword:fallback}, and this is my issue. where Will’s program handled most of the stuff I did ask him to modify it which he did for me. but we still have these issues

1. it can’t yet cope with embedded DKI e.g. ‘buy {keyword: default}’ - this gets replaced in its entirety by {param2} or {param3} (see below)

2. G has various options for capitalising the keyword part - there are only the param2 and param3 places to store dynamic data in the AdCenter upload so I have used those for what I think are the most common ones: Keyword and KeyWord - if you have KeyWord in the G account, it translates it to KeyWord (stored in param2). All other capitalisations get Keyword (stored in param3).

3. M lets you specify default fallback text at the keyword level. G’s is at the ad level. I therefore use a truncation of the keyword phrase to 25 characters. This could be utter rubbish, so I also have an option to input it at the ad group level which gets applied to all kw in the M upload

ok LAZY PPC MANAGEMENT COMPANIES..

1) Because google can send you all the traffic your client needs does not mean that that’s all you should do
2) Setup for the client XLS sheets with out the special Codes unique to any given ads system
3) Test the budget across many ad delivery systems, MSN, Yahoo, Google, Miva etc etc and test the ROI you might just be surprised
4) start working for your clients not for how much money you can make has quick has possible.

scenario :

You are a global company with offices around the world, how to handle global presence on a local level.

We know that having a co.uk on a UK IP address will boost your rankings in Google.co.uk or a .de domain on a German IP address will boost you in the German Serps in Google.de, but what if you are a global company and want local listings as well as global listings. In this scenario the central database is in the US. Now if you know about multi view DNS stop reading ;)

we are going to setup a few subdomains :

www.mydomain.com central core where all humans should end up
uk.mydomain.com UK core where all British humans should end up
de.mydomain.com German core where all German humans should end up
es.mydomain.com Spain core where all Spanish humans should end up

all the subdomains are on the same IP and hosted with the central Database, which isn’t ideal so

For the UK get the mydomain.co.uk hosted on UK IP address and install a Proxy to pull the data from the central server then conditionally redirect to the UK domain. Repeat and rinse with all the other sub domains. Because you are conditionally doing this you send a few humans and spiders to the locally hosted sites.

You can if you have good load balancing and decent servers 301 everyone to the local hosted site, but you can have issues with re sync databases, so far i have preferred the proxy pulling data method.

any better ideas I’m all ears, of course you need UK, DE and ES content :)

1) Buying and Blagging Links : this strategy is well known. A Good link buyer will get you links from semi themed sites or from links within the Body.

A bad way to ask is “I found your site while searching for “keyword” and think we compliment each other” .. hmmm really I know my blog ranks for odd stuff and 9 times out of 10 the sites are really really off the mark.

A good way, backlink check your competitors, and manually go to the sites look at the content and style of link, you don’t want to be emailing your competitors feeder sites lol :) once you have found a backlink, hand craft an email.

saying how kick arse awesome they are and maybe Wordze emails me and says

“hey great to see you using Trellian and Keyword discovery, we think we have a great product in Wordze and would love you to have a trial and maybe update your post about keyword tools” - you’ll have a much better hit rate, or

“I know you are busy and I thought your post on Trellian and Keyword discovery is cool. Is there any way i could PAY YOU to update your post and include MY WEBSITE”

2) Viral Particle Canon imo one of the easiest ways to get links, take the stumble, sphinn, digg crowds etc, if you can pass 100,000 of these people past a website a % will have blogs and another % will blog about your site product etc etc

3) Your Authority Mate, these are the people that can get a link from a PR8 or PR9 for free, tricky to get but once you have one in your pocket, expect your link network to be on the radar…

Well time will tell…. If you are in the UK you can guess what just aired on the BBC.. and yes the last couple on Dragon’s Den got the £200,000 investment. The website was built and hosted by my guys.

I have to be honest we had some slow down on the server in the last 5 minutes of the show, but nothing the New server that the Ben and Chris worked on all day couldn’t handle and managed to hold up.. well done guys.

The new design is in place on the holding site so well done Kean.. i will update this post over the next few days and weeks as to what the investment brings.
