Big Brother Rex’s restaurant is Crap !

This is so funny, I have Quite a few clients and friends that live and work in the London area, and when I got IM’ed a few minutes ago, by a Client asking me if i watched BigBrother, I LOL’ed and said I was watching it now.. he then said do you remember the restaurant we went to last time I was in London, well that was Rex’s family’s, the one he keeps going on about… what the fuck !…

The Drinks where over priced and the food was over cooked !!, if anyone has ever been out for a meal with me I never complain about the Cost or the Food, apart from a Raw Steak I had with webmasterradio ;) but  at the Beach Blanket Babylon I complained 3 times in one night ! bad service and miserable serving staff is certainly one thing that is unacceptable when youare paying top dollar.

It got so embarrassing it really turned into a joke

I got my new phone - the HTC Touch Diamond

Back in June Dave posted about which phone I was going to be getting, as my upgrade was due on our Orange Business Contract. It was a good time of year to be ready for an upgrade with some great phones being released. Running Bronco, (and Dave!) requires me to be in touch with whats going on 24/7 near enough, so I need to have Windows Mobile on as a priority, also for the phone to be easy to use.

We got the HTC Touch Diamond on Saturday afternoon… the last one in the Orange shop. Dave spent the next 4 - 5 hours playing on it saying how great it was and how he wanted it. When I finally got my hands on the HTC Diamond I was a little out of my depth as the controls were all new to me, having previously had an Orange SPV E650. I was unsure whether I was going to keep it which was really disappointing as no matter how I touched the screen or moved my thumb / finger over the screen I couldn’t seem to get control. (All the harder when a now expert on the TouchFLO is peering over your shoulder)

Now a few days on and I really love it. They say that the HTC Touch Diamond is a rival, if not better than the IPhone which I can well believe. The whole interface on the phone is not only gorgeous but so simple to use, once you get used to it. Browsing on the web is great with the ability to be able to zoom in to certain points on a page and move around, you barely ever need to use the stylus. The only slight downside is that you find yourself rubbing finger prints off it a lot to keep it looking immaculate, like a real black diamond does. I would definitely recommend this phone, or to wait for the HTC Diamond Pro to come out that has a slide out keyboard.

SEroundtable Pointed me to to a story about “Another Insulting Algorithmic Search Result from Google” I didn’t want to blog about the swastika on Google Trends, but this is kinda odd, when you search for Special People you get :

Liz Jones Daily Desperate Search

The power of searching on the Internet can often be undervalued and indeed social networking sites sometimes suffer journalistic criticism. Facebook for example has suffered bad daily press thanks to Liz Jones of the daily mail. Mel Carson at Microsoft ran this by me and I have to concur with his findings. Liz Jones eluding to online safety, warning people to be cautious about sharing too many details on the net is somewhat strange coming from someone who runs a daily diary and has more dirty laundry to air than a nursing home suffering a diarrhoea epidemic.

Such spontaneous, ill -informed generalisations about Search, Privacy and Social Networking I hope will not be taken too seriously. Don’t get me wrong, I love journalism on the whole. The keyword I use here is “journalism”, not just waxing lyrically, at least research the topic. Private Eye recently quoted extracts from Liz Jones’s work, yet more examples of purely being outspoken.

Website for Sale

You are starting an online business venture and have heard that new sites lack authority and could take months before they see visitors, you don’t really have the budget for  ppc  or indeed SEO yet can afford an initial outlay on a website. You are not really concerned about how the website looks and have decided that page rank and a site that is already indexed are more important as of course is the age of the domain.

Where would you buy this site from ?  Who to trust ?

You know that there are domain auctions out there but are looking for an established website.

Yahoo Board to Tears

Money talks, well it certainly may do at Yahoo. Investors line up for the kill and  any fears about change of  Yahoo ownership are of course allayed with all contenders emphasising maximum shareholder values. Icahn’s proposal to change the Yahoo board may well take flight. Meanwhile, as if  waiting in the wings Microsoft are now in ” it’s good to talk” mode providing the board changes take place.

Google remains quiet in the equation, perhaps quietened after advertising testing and concerns over privacy again.

Will the Yahoo board remain intact ?

Google locks down Universal today

Dan Horton lost a bet today .. to me HAHAHA, after I blogged about Marc Chagall, he said that I was trying to rank for that term, so I bet him a £10 that the post wouldn’t rank in www.google.co.uk by 5 o’clock today.

So why did I win, well it was pretty obvious that if that Google was going to fix the Logo Link to Serps and Universal Serps.. remember “50th anniversary of the LEGO brick” I was #2 with in 1 hour of that logo.

butPatrick Altoft spoilt it :) at least I won a tenner.
